Nursery Rhymes Studio is a shareware utility specially designed for babies, young children, and toddlers. This application features thirty of the most popular and traditional Nursery Rhymes. There is a menu from where we can select our most cherished rhymes (Humpty Dumpty, London Bridge, Ring A' Roses, Jack and Jill, Little Bo Beep, and so on). Once selected, we can view a rhyme in a single window. There, we can see a nice colored drawing featuring the rhyme's character(s) (on the left), the lyrics (on the right), the rhymes selector to access the menu, and four buttons (at the bottom). We can click the buttons to hear a robotic female voice reading the rhyme, stop reading, listen to the rhyme's music, and stop the music. From the toolbar, we can exit the program, register online, read the help file, ordering information, license agreement, and infromation about the program. The user interface is very convenient for young children, who will quickly learn how to use the program. Moreover, it is possible to use this program with children who are learning English as a second language. We can evaluate this program free of charge for a 7-day period. Nursery Rhymes Studio runs under Windows XP, ME, 2000, NT, 98, and 95 operating systems.

Review summary

Pros

  • Evaluation version
  • Nice Music and drawings
  • Smart GUI
  • Uninstall option

Cons

  • The robotic female voice reading (not singing) the Nursery Rhymes does not sound good at all. It would be much nicer to have a song instead (or added as a new feature)
  • Vista is not supported yet
